So for the past couple weeks I slowed down a bit on the baking to take a break and enjoy the end of summer, but I have baked some cakes here and there when I got the chance using store bought cake mixes just because I missed baking too much :)
August 3rd 2010: Funfetti Cake!
August 8th 2010: Triple Layer Yellow Cake
The "funfetti" cake was pretty easy to make because it was just 2 layers, but the yellow cake was a lot more of a challenge. I originally planned on making a 5 layer cake (which explains all of the cake mix and loads of frosting), but I had a very difficult time assembling the cake :/
The green and pink layers were easy to put together, but I had baked another layer of cake that was covered in blue frosting that accidently fell apart while I was moving it onto the pink layer. I'm guessing that it was too fragile and I hadn't cooked it enough so now I know to bake it longer for next time! The yellow layer went on easily because I had cooked it more, but the original top layer that I planned to put on top came out of the pan poorly and fell apart as well. Even though this cake is a little disappointing because I wanted to make a much larger one, I'm still happy with what I made because it is a major improvement and now I know what to do for next time. Practice makes perfect!
Throughout the past couple of weeks I have met a lot more people at PATH. Everyone is really friendly and very appreciative of the food which just makes the experience that much more rewarding. Thanks for reading and until next time, stay blissful!
